GUIDED TOUR: WOMEN IN THE GROTE KERK BREDA
Activity
Rediscover a piece of history through the eyes of the women who were often left out of the picture.
In cooperation with Gilde de Baronie, the Grote Kerk Breda has developed a free interactive tour: Women in the Picture. This tour tells you all about the great influence women have had on the genesis of the church and the city of Breda.
In addition, Gilde de Baronie has developed a guided tour, which also focuses on the women in the church. This tour lasts about 1.5 hours and is suitable for both those curious about their story and history buffs who appreciate a personal guide.
The tour is Dutch spoken.
For centuries, history was written in a way where men predominated. In churches, among other places, the course of events was predominantly determined by men.
In the iconic Grote Kerk Breda, there are also important and impressive stories of women to discover. From paintings on walls and pillars to special tombs and choir stalls - this tour sheds new light on the role of women in church history.
