Mariavespers - Claudio Monteverdi
The Bach Choir Brabant will perform the Mariavespers on 20 December, accompanied by Baroque orchestra Florilegium Musicum and conducted by Geert van den Dungen.
The Marian Vespers (also known as Vespro della Beata Vergine) is a musical composition by Claudio Monteverdi, composed in 1610. This work is one of the most important works of Baroque music and is considered a masterpiece of religious music. The Marian Vespers are meant to be the musical setting of evening prayers (vespers) in honour of the Virgin Mary.
