The Grote Kerk Breda is a national monument, part of the 'Grootste Museum van Nederland', one of the four Top Monuments of Brabant and the icon of the city of Breda.

The Grote Kerk Breda is a house of stories, where traces of the past make history tangible. If you know where to look, the stories reveal themselves. Our interactive tours let you discover the many stories. What lies behind the tombs, the grandeur and the symbols? And what does that say about our lives in the here-and-now?
Scavenger hunts for children
Did you know that there are lots of knights, plants and animals hiding in the Grote Kerk Breda? They come in all shapes and sizes; there's even a knight who has a helmet out of which a tree grows. Will you come and find them all on one of our scavenger hunts?
Audio tour
With the audio tour, you will discover the highlights and hidden treasures of the Grote Kerk Breda. Enjoy a guided tour with wonderful stories at your own pace. You can pick up the audio tour (playback device with headphones) free of charge at the reception desk.
Climb the tower (12+)
Breda's church tower. You can see it from afar. The Grote Kerk Breda and its tower are the most prominent icon of the city and its surroundings. Did you know you can also enter the tower? Climb the 287 steps with a guide. Learn more about the history of the tower and enjoy the breathtaking views over the historic city and its surroundings. Climbing the tower takes about one hour.
Guided tours
The most iconic monument of Breda is of course the Grote Kerk or 'Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk'. A visit to the elegant interior of this national monument, built in the Brabant Gothic style that transitions into Renaissance style, is therefore well worthwhile.
