Rosângela Rennó BredaPhoto
In co-production with BredaPhoto, we presented a site-specific solo exhibition by Rosângela Rennó from 13 September to 3 November '24. Engaging with the church's monumental interior, Rennó drew attention to the little-known, interconnected history of Brazil and the Netherlands in a series of multimedia installations.
RE-BELLE '24
With RE-BELLE, visual artist Maria Roosen brought colourful, contemporary accents to the Grote Kerk Breda. Her poetic, powerful and rebellious works responded to the monumental space from 14 April to 25 August 2024.
Vrije Vogels (Birds) '23
Atelier EXB, BredaPhoto and the Grote Kerk Breda joined forces to bring together 14 top international photographers who presented their personal visions of these wondrous creatures in the photo exhibition Vrije Vogels from 16 September to 3 December 2023.
The Palace of Typographic Masonry '23
We see many types of visual communication every day. We ourselves increasingly use pictures, gifs and emoji to make things clear. Are you 'visually savvy' enough to comprehend and withstand this stream of images? You will find out from 22 April to 18 June 2023 at the Grote Kerk Breda.
BredaPhoto Space to Breathe '22
From 8 September to 23 October 2022, Breda hosted the tenth edition of the biennial BredaPhoto Festival, the largest photographic exhibition in the Benelux countries. Under the title Theatre of Dreams, this edition was about hope, change and proposals for a new view of the world.
Koerstrui in de kerk '22
In the run-up to the start of the third stage of La Vuelta in Breda, the Grote Kerk Breda presented a special exhibition from 2 July to 26 August 2022 with a selection of over 100 cycling jerseys from Brabant-based collector Henk Theuns' large collection of cycling jerseys: Koerstrui in de kerk (Race jersey in the church).
Guernica de la Ecologia '22
From 12 May to 26 June 2022, CrossArts launched its first thematic year ‘Sustainability & Creativity’ with an exhibition at the Grote Kerk Breda featuring the latest work by the Netherlands' most eco-friendly textile artist Claudy Jongstra: Guernica de la Ecologia.
Museum of the Moon '21
From 11 December 2021 to 30 January 2022, the sun on the medieval wooden panel that closes the oculus – the highest point of the church – was accompanied by Museum of the Moon.
Royal Fashion Design '21
From 29 May to 29 August 2021, the Grote Kerk Breda presented Royal Fashion Design, an exhibition that focused on recent and new designs by Dutch fashion designer Mattijs van Bergen.
